Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his parents and a commitment to the community. The first family is his youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. The family lived on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. Two football. He is one of three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the top lineman in America. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and won two national championships. The National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon obtained his degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth time of service included ten hours per week of volunteer time in the college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Also, he began a career in business. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's top 10 young men. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He captained his college team in 1975. He joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
