Rauw Alejandro
Despacito was a track from the year 2017 that was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed track across the globe within 6 months. It was a combination of reggaeton and pop music that not only drew attention to Latin music but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish language, while 2016 saw four. In 2017, at the height of Despacito's popularity, 19 tracks mainly in Spanish have made it into the Billboard Top 100. By 2020 the number will increase to 41 songs within this genre. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages of Despacito (2017) popular musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton artists, including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma in Medellin (2019). In 2020, a few Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the trend of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation like Rauw Alejandro was determined to maintain the development. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music and different styles was an accepted procedure.
